Starshy is a one man band, based in Glasgow.  It doesn’t believe in a “one sound” band and has veered in many musical directions in the hope of finding a tune!  Sometimes it finds one, sometimes it doesn’t - it enjoys the thrill of the chase! Starshy likes to think of itself as a light and fluffy band but somehow always manages to find the darkside with greater ease.  Lyrically it is happy to say nothing, but occasionally stuff just needs to be said, and songs like “Bruised Knuckles” and “Holocaust Nancy” rise menacingly to the surface.

Its first release “52nd and 2nd” (under the moniker Bubblegum Summer), was with Series Two Records in September 2008.  This was followed by the 6 track ep Short and Sweet in August 2009. The latest release, 20th Feb 2011, is available as a free download - A Partly Political Broadcast features 3 songs that were written between 2009 and 2010.  Download

The new double a side single Please Don’t Make Me Kill You/Honeysuckle Kiss is released on For Singles Only on the 1st March 2011.

Starshy maintains its practice of writing and recording most if its songs in under 4 hours.  If you think you  hear a mistake, you most probably have.  Here’s to DIY and ideas.
