The first thing that struck me was the diversity in styles. Sure, there’s a constant sugar rush enough to send a diabetic into instant blackout, but what I came to discover was that I couldn’t find a bad track on the set. There’s obviously dream pop in the form of the wonderfully named Tesco Chainstore Mascara, but then there’s glorious power pop from Zipper and Helen Love, a bit of shoegaze from Flannel, a dose of post punk from Lean Tales and even some pop grunge from Le Alméida. Add some reggae from Silly Boy Blue and the pure eccentricity of The Honda Express and Hyperbubble, then top it with an obligatory spell of synth pop from Electric Needle Room, just leaving room for some singalong moments by Annemarie and Starshy and what you end up with is not just an enjoyable listening experience but a superbly assembled set of tunes. All this lovingly put together by a man with a passion for music and the will to do something about it. ......fantastic compilation and never again will I allow my fervour to be dampened by foolish preconceived notions….Indiemp3
